I found my love of travel before my dedication to healthcare. The joy of exploring new places was inherited from my mother and grandmother, who turned the exploration of different destinations into a bonding experience.
For most of my formative years I was an aspiring journalist, fully engaged with my love of storytelling and writing for the local paper.
In 2014, a critical juncture in my life occurred when a tragic car accident hospitalized several members of my family. It was in the children’s hospital in Aurora, Colorado, where two nurses encouraged me to consider a career in nursing. They keenly identified my curiosity towards my sister’s healthcare needs and my natural instincts to provide her with thoughtful bedside care. Witnessing their compassionate care ignited a passion within me – an obsession with the art and phenomenon of healing. This revelation directed me towards my life’s purpose, and at seventeen, I set my compass towards a career in healthcare.
From that moment onward, I embraced a career in nursing and healthcare. After graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I pursued travel contracts across the country, working in various communities and hospital units.
This journey instilled in me a profound appreciation for public health, propelling me towards my next endeavor: pursuing a Master’s in Nursing at the University of Edinburgh.
